Objectives
Whether you plan to enter the academic world, the business world or other sectors beyond academia, networking is an essential skill for furthering your career. Your network could be future colleagues, supervisors, collaborators or recruiters. If you’re someone who doesn't like meeting new people or hates the idea of ‘selling yourself’, there are some easy things you can do to start networking in a genuine way.
The training will help you to:
- Gain a greater understanding of the importance and value of collaboration and networking
- Introduce your research in an engaging manner
- Consider where networking is taking place and make potential collaborative links
Programme
The training was given as part of How to be an effective and collaborative researcher (TM3-1) (pdf) at the PLATO PhD school 1 in Berlin.
