How to be an Effective & Collaborative Researcher (TM3-2)

The two-day 'effective and collaborative researcher' programme is a variant of Vitae's Effective Researcher programme tailor-made to the needs of PLATO's PhD researchers.

This two-day training programme is a tailor-made part of Vitae's Effective Researcher programme for PLATO's early-stage researchers, who are 3-4 months into their doctorate.

How to be an effective & collaborative researcher

The first day of this training programme will introduce researchers to the importance of skills development in the context of research and explore researchers’ creative thinking and problem-solving abilities. Researchers will then be introduced to self- and project- management techniques and tools relevant to completing a PhD, such as time management and personalised project planning.

The second day will focus on the importance and value of collaboration, enabling researchers to develop winning strategies for connecting, communicating and working with others.

Overall, the programme will take researchers on a learning journey that will support the current stage of their doctorate and prepare them for the next through a series of interactive discussions, activities, and reflection time.
