The two PLATO fellows had planned their secondments at CEPS in March-April 2020. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic and ensuing lockdowns their stays were interrupted already during the first week.
CEPS therefore organised an online meeting on 8 May 2020, inviting both fellows to present their ongoing research and preliminary findings to a small group of experts, consisting of former TRANSMIC Fellows and CEPS colleagues in the Justice and Home Affairs Unit. In a closed-door meeting the participants discussed how the research moves beyond the state of the art as well as the policy relevance and recommendations of their studies.
- EASO & Frontex seconded national experts in Greece, Gil Thompson, PLATO PhD researcher (ESR1), Berlin Graduate School for Global and Transregional Studies (BGTS)
- The role of bureaucrats in asylum decisions made in Romania, Radu-Mihai Triculescu, PLATO PhD researcher (ESR2), University of Twente
The meeting was organised by PLATO mentors Lina Vosyliūtė and Marco Stefan at CEPS, and comments were prepared by:
